From the Outside

One of two large sculptural installations commissioned for the Spring Season Open Weekend SPLIT/DIVIDE for the historic Hospitalfield House, Arbroath Scotland.

A lightweight structure enters into a negotiation with the generous architecture of the study room at Hospitalfield. The winding pathways frame interactions between viewers, allowing them to move around the installation as if performers in a set.

Making Space

In a small industrial estate in Bethnal Green East London ‘Making Space’ is the design of a place for contemporary production.

The design uses historic site plans as a starting point, tying the building into a specific urban context. A series of volumes that house the workshops sit on top of the production spaces that previously occupied that site.

The project deals specifically with the spatial qualities of in-between spaces. The areas between the volumes have been designed with a level of spatial ambiguity to allow for multiple interpretations, creating a level of programmatic flexibility within the building and garden.

Studiolo

Collabereration with Amalie Aslund Pedersen, Jeppe Søndergaard Hansen, Naomi Hagos and Sandra Lehne.

A collaboration between designers and ceramicists this large model explores the manipulation of light through winding pathways. Inspired by the depiction of Saint Jerome in his studiolo by the painter Hendrik van Steenwijck the younger, the 1m tall ceramic pieces work with subtle variation in colour.

Gasholder No.2

This project is the transformation of a former 19th Century Gasholder into a culture house in East London. The building contains flexible performance and activity spaces that can adapt to the needs of a changing neighbourhood.

This project focused primarily on the transformation of a single gasholder, as well as the surrounding gardens, with the assumption that the surrounding buildings will be developed into residential units.
